Chamber Member Benefits
Advertising Opportunities Chamber Newsletter: This monthly publication is distributed to over 100 of the areas leading business people. Packed with business news and events, open house photos, business profiles and advertising from Chamber members. Chamber Newsletter Advertising: Chamber members can have a full page ad distributed to more than 100 of their best prospects in the area for $10. This is a great way to promote a sale or introduce a new product or service to an influential and captive audience. Sports Programs: Each year, the Retail Association prints thousands of programs for our local sports teams. Business listings are available for a minimal fee. Highway 14 Guide: This brochure is distributed along Highway 14 between Brookings and New Ulm, in specialty shops and hotels. This is a great way to get summer travelers into Sleepy Eye and into your business! Retail Opportunities Knights/Indians/Warriors Cards: The Retail Association produces cards displaying specials at local businesses. The local schools sell the cards as a fundraiser. Increase the traffic in your business by providing a special discount for this very popular promotion. Santa Visits: Throughout November and December, Santa visits various retail businesses. Get your business put on the list of Santa stops to attract kids of all ages into your business! Crazy Days: Two days of wild and crazy specials are provided by the local businesses. Held each July, this event is popular for local residents, as well as those throughout the surrounding area. Special Events Corn Days Celebration: The third weekend of August, we host the town festival. Volunteer workers are always needed to serve the free sweet corn, compliments of Del Monte. Lighting of Wooldrik Park: Santa arrives in Sleepy Eye the Monday evening before Thanksgiving. His arrival and the lighting of the park are a tradition in Sleepy Eye. Safety Day Camp: Educating our youth on various issues of safety. Each September, the committee provides the opportunity for area students to learn life lessons. Ish-Tak-Ha-Ba Basketball Tournament: The Chamber holds this tournament each year in which area teams compete. New Teacher Welcome: Before the arrival of the students at the local schools each September, the Ambassadors host a morning of coffee, rolls and introductions as new teachers are welcomed to the community. Eggs 'n Issues: An open meeting with our legislators is held each spring. A great time to learn more about upcoming government affairs and voice your concerns to your representatives. Get Recognized Appreciation Luncheon: A business that has shown exceptional support of the Chamber is the guest of honor for this special luncheon held each May. Manufacture/Technology Recognition: The Chamber recognizes a business each October that has shown outstanding service in the area of manufacturing or technology.

Business Opportunities Mailing Labels: Each member may receive one set of Chamber mailing labels per year at no cost. Additional copies for a nominal fee. Business Referrals: The Chamber office answers hundreds of questions from tourists, locals and new residents. Chamber members are always highly recommended. Tax Deductible: Your membership is tax deductible as a business expense. Shop Sleepy Eye For Schools: Save receipts from any participating Chamber business to help raise money for your local school. Chamber Certificates: Support Sleepy Eye, Shop Sleepy Eye! These certificates are available at the Chamber office and in any denomination. They are only redeemable at Chamber member businesses. Each time you redeem a Chamber Certificate, it is proof that your membership is at work. Seminars: Occasionally, the Chamber holds seminars on topics including customer service, tourism, marketing, and other issues. Open Houses: The Ambassadors attend open houses for relocations, expansions, new openings and anniversaries. Articles and photos are published in both the Sleepy Eye Herald Dispatch and the Chamber newsletter. Resource Center: We are your one stop shop for information concerning Sleepy Eye. We carry tourist information, phone directories, maps, various directories, as well as the annual Christmas ornament and other Sleepy Eye memorabilia. Advocate For Business: The Chamber monitors and acts on various local and state issues that have an effect on our members. A yearly Eggs 'n Issues seminar is held, as well as Business Day at the Capital. Christmas Coupon Books: Each year, the Retail Association together with local businesses compile a coupon book packed with savings. Employee Discount Days: In March, the Retail Association organizes four days of special discounts available only to Chamber members and their employees. New Resident Welcome Bags: The Chamber distributes welcome bags to new residents to Sleepy Eye. Your business can provide samples or coupons for these bags to gain the loyalty of each new resident quickly and easily. Networking Opportunities Business After Hours: Businesses have the opportunity to invite all Chamber members to experience their business first hand. This is a great tool for making new contacts and getting to know your fellow business people. Committees: Join any of our various committees to assist in directing the Chamber in the ways in which it should grow. These committees include: Ambassadors, CVB, Corn Daze/Parade, Golf Tournament, Government Actions, Membership Drive, Member Relations and Safety Day Camp. Golf Tournament: Held in June each year, this Chamber outing is a great time and a great way to network with other members. Annual Meeting: Chamber members are invited to attend the Annual Meeting each January. The evening festivities include dinner, entertainment, a silent auction and awards. Other Activities Scarecrow Patch: To celebrate Fall, local 3rd-6th graders are invited to use their creative juices to build a scarecrow in October. These scarecrows can be traditional, can look like a celebrity, or whatever crazy ideas the kids can come up with. Pot 'O Gold: Find the leprechaun medallion and claim your $100 in Chamber Certificates. Clues are available each March at member businesses.

Getting Involved
Help make things happen at the Sleepy Eye Area Chamber of Commerce! Join one of these committees:
Ambassadors
The Chamber Ambassadors welcome new businesses to the community, visit businesses that have made improvements or that have relocated, and serve as a welcome committee at special functions.
Meets on the first Thursday of every other month at noon, as well as special visits throughout the year.
Convention & Visitors Bureau
The purpose of the Convention & Visitors Bureau (CVB) is to advance the economic impact of tourism in the Sleepy Eye area by attracting visitors, conventions, meetings, events, and trade shows. The CVB also helps develop and promote additional attractions and special events taking place in the community.
Meets the third Tuesday of each month at noon.
Corn Days/Parade
This committee plans, coordinates and oversees this event which brings visitors from all across Minnesota to experience "Sleepy Eye Nice."
The Corn Daze and Parade committees meet as needed January through September.
Golf Tournament
This task force plans and coordinates the Chamber's Annual Golf Tournament held in June.
Meets as needed.
Retail Association
This committee works to build the Sleepy Eye retail businesses through programs, activities, promotions and advertising.
Meets the first Thursday of each month at 7:30 a.m.
Safety Day Camp
Our camp is put on for elementary students each September. The committee plans and coordinates the day's learning sessions.
Meets as needed on Tuesdays at 4:00 p.m. during August and September.
Membership Dues
The Chamber member dues are based on your employee base.
