Ready to begin your tour of Sleepy Eye?
We are excited that you want to learn more about Sleepy Eye's history! At each stop along the tour, you'll find historic information on how each place came to be, as well as some interesting facts that most of the locals don't even remember! Take your time and please do not be afraid to explore other places ont on this tour - our business owners and locals love to have visitors!
The first stop on your tour is to see the Chief Sleepy Eye Statue, the Chief Sleepy Eye Monument, the Depot Museum, and Depot Antiques.
We'll keep going north to St. Mary's Catholic Church and Sleepy Eye Lake.
When you go southwest along Highway 14, you will find the Dyckman Free Library and the Linus Statue.
A walk down Main Street will lead you to the Berg Hotel, followed by a walk down First Avenue South to the W.W. Smith Inn.
Swing back up to Main Street to see Sleepy Eye Stained Glass, one of the most unique stained glass shops in the Midwest.
Finally, we'll take you to one of the oldest buildings here - the Sleepy Eye Flour Mill.
There is also another interesting palce to see and learn about. We've included historical information about the Schoenstatt Shrine & Retreat Center. This place is not available to walk through, but please feel free to drive past if you are interested.
