2024 Minnesota Governor's Pheasant Hunting Opener
The Minnesota Governor’s Pheasant Hunting Opener was initiated by Governor Mark Dayton in 2011.
The State Office of Tourism, Explore Minnesota and the Minnesota Department of Natural Resources assist local partners in planning the event.
The Sleepy Eye Area Chamber of Commerce & CVB submitted an application to host the 2024 Minnesota Governor’s Pheasant Hunting Opener (GPHO) and was selected through an application process that considered available hunting land, event facilities, travel recreation opportunities and community support.
The 2024 GPHO is scheduled for Oct. 11-12 in Sleepy Eye.
Governor’s Pheasant Hunting Opener is part of a weekend of festivities in Sleepy Eye that will showcase the many hunting, recreational, rural living and travel opportunities the area has to offer visitors.
